For those who were wondering, this fab head band tutorial is from kcquilts. I have used it before and return to it again and again. Easy Peasy and quick to make.
. . . AND, I put the question "out there" yesterday about these little blighters, and BINGO! Someone sent me the answer. Thanks Melanie! You are so clever. I have done a search and am sure she is right. It is a Peppered Moth - Biston Betularia. I have caught more of them this morning nibbling on my plants.
It's been dreadfully hot here and strong winds have done some damage, however, we had a calm day yesterday and the roses were happy. They are such strong survivors in the heat and dry, and just SO beautiful.

Great snaps Annie. Isn't blogland amazing anything you need to know someone knows the answer. Roses are the best mine are still flowering although with small blooms with very little water.

There's a sory about the peppered moth in the UK. The caterpillars used to be creamy coloured before the industrial revolution. However in area where there were lots of factories, the tree bark got sootier and darker. The paler ones were then spotted and eaten and only the darker ones survived to breed. This led to pockets of only the darker ones.
Double Delight is my all-time favorite rose. My grandparents always had a couple in the garden. So pretty and the smell...I can remember it now in the dead of our winter.
Imagine my surprise when I finally bought one and it has no smell. Yep, I managed to pick the one bum plant :( This year, though, I'm hoping to have lovely scented blooms to fill my home.
