Secret Quilting Business

Finished this last week, and only one strip to go before our craft group's Friendship Quilt hand over. I searched my old photos to find these ones of Dainty Bess.
She is just so special.
I love her . . .

Gardening

Gardening all day today, and this is what caught my eye enough to stop and grab my camera. It is Dainty Bess - one of my favourite roses.
I'm off to bed . . . exhausted!

Back to work

I've been back at work for 3 days and feel very tired tonight.
I came home each night and gardened 'till dark . . .
Thanks for all the lovely comments about my new school bag and hand bag. I felt very "posh" and clever walking into school each day. Took the edge off just a bit.
. . . the children will come on Monday and the children at home will go on Monday.
Life as we know it, will return to some semblance of normality.

. . . and more sewing

I've only been briefly looking at the garden blooms as I have been madly sewing, but you have to love Double Delight - she is such a pretty Rose.
Second Hand school uniforms being purchased from networking with neighbours, and as an added extra thank you, I made a little Nichole Mallalieu Purse to put the money in. Love this little pattern, so easy to make and such a great result each time.
As I hadn't been out of my sewing room for hours upon hours, Miss Flowergarden decided to join me, and she started making a runner for her new dressing table. She chose all the fabrics from within the inner sanctum, and the funniest comment came from Master Flowergarden (14), when he said . . . "like, did you just have all those fabrics there ready to use?!"

Now I'm ready to start school for the year as I have made myself a new school bag,
Like my friend Ric Rac, I am now "Dead Posh!"

Sewing sewing sewing . . .

As I have realised the deadline for this lovely long holiday - I have gone slightly into panic mode. I have enjoyed being out in my garden, but it was time to hit that new sewing machine and tick off a few jobs on the list.
. . . actually this first job wasn't actually on the list, but I decided to make a little quilt for my new sewing machine to sit on. I just need to bind it and it will be done. Very satisfying to do a tiny project like this that was finished almost in one day.
AROUND THE BLOCK was my next thing on the list. We had a month off for holidays and now it's back to it. I finished this one off for Sherridan and the next one arrived in the mail today.

back to the sewing room now - - -

Action Stations

I'm getting a new "shade house" down the side of my house. It is going to be my outside playroom, like my sewing room is my inside playroom! I feel very lucky indeed to have such a clever Mr Flowergarden!
I also have a brand new sewing machine!!! Sewing some of my favourite fabrics for my maiden project.
The school year is rapidly approaching . . .

Early Start

Little Pete and I have been working together to make a house number sign.
I did some grouting tonight, so I will show you the finished product when we're done.
Despite the soaring heat, I still have some happy flowers in my garden. Thank goodness for our tank, as I have been able to give them extra drinks in the evenings.
This is a most beautiful geranium.
I had a very early start this morning. I set my alarm for 6am as I knew it was going to be a VERY hot day, and too hot to go outside. I weeded this garden and got a big pile of weeds...
...and then another big pile of weeds from this garden.
I worked from 6am till 9am, and then the sun found me. Little Pete was surprised to find me in the garden still wearing my pjamas when he got up.
I felt great satisfaction when I'd finished, and took the kids to the pool for a swim. I did have to have a little cat nap with Nelly in the afternoon though.

"Dearest"
While I was working, I picked some fresh peaches for my breakfast.

There is still one left for tomorrow.
. . . and very soon there will be nectarines. Nothing nicer than munching on fruit from the garden.
