Quilts and . . . a day in the city

Yesterday was a great day.  I took my Miss Flower Garden to the big city, just she and I.  I showed her special things, like the water at the Art Gallery (above), the Library, where we saw all the old newspapers . . . Parliament House, The Entertainment Centre . . . and anything else we happened to see along the way to the "Quilt Show"

We were dropped off in St Kilda Road by Mr Flowergarden and the 2 Master Flowergarden's who were off to do "boy jobs" and the girls were "let loose" in the city.

We walked hand in hand and talked and shared and I felt warm when I heard all her OOooooh's and Ahhh's at the "first time 'round" for things she was looking at.  What a great day we had together.
This is a selection of quilts that "took our fancy".  I must give Miss Flowergarden "10 points" for her patience with her mother around all the gorgeous quilt shops.  I felt like I had died and gone to heaven, however, I'm hoping heaven will be just a little bit quieter and less crowded.

Lots of walking and lots of talking, and a little snooze on the train on the way home.  A great way to spend a Saturday.

How lovely Annie! Those quilts are just amazing. Was the peacock one all embroidered? How was it done? Incredible.

Annie, I'm glad you're spending such great alone time with your daughter. They grow up oh-so fast! Mine two are both in their twenties, and I miss those sweet innocent times!

Thank you for the lovely Quilt show tour, I don't think I'll make it to the mainland ever, so I enjoyed your pictures.

What a wonderful day -just a girlie trip. I was doing the same with daughter yesterday finding a prom dress pattern. It's amazing how they really speak when there aren't brother's listening in. :-)

I love the eye one, ohhh and the blue circles, and the colours of the peacock. One day I want to reproduce Wind In the Willows illustrations by EH Shepherd in fabric. I'm still learning.

Thanks for sharing them Annie.

What a wonderful day to share with your daughter - the photo's of the quilts are amazing - would so love to have seen the detail in these - especially the 'reptile eyes' - very clever. Hugs Jx

I love the way we are all drawn to different quilts.
I do not remember a couple of those but my vision could have been blocked by heat and weariness.
Hope you get some rain.
We are getting a dribble.
