Wedding Quilt

. . . this is the before
and this is the after . . .
. . . another UFO well on the way to completion!  THE Wedding QUILT that I have been working on since last year, belonging to the daughter of a teaching friend.  When she asked me if I could make the dress into a quilt, I thought . . .
. . . I'll give anything a go once!  I am thrilled with how it has turned out.  The custom quilting has really made it special.  I had it done at Quilt Station
in Elphinstone/Cetral Victoria and she did a terrific job.
I still have to bind it and label it etc. but I can see an end in sight with this one too.
It's a good feeling to be clearing the decks -
- although you probably couldn't tell by looking in my sewing room, there are still lots for me to play with!

Wow, that has come up really well. I think its owner will be very pleased. Do you have a picture of the dress on the bride to show us "before and after".

What a fabulous idea. To actually make something useful from a wedding dress... to then get pleasure from it daily, rather than have it sit in a box. And how special, to be trusted with something so precious. Lucky you!

Annie, it is gorgeous! And that you can still see the shape of the dress in the quilt really makes it special.

Ohhhh, it turned out so well! Bet the bride/friend think it's wonderful too! I love how you made it almost look like there is a dress on the front of it too.
Very nice!

It is lovely what a fantastic way to keep a precious memory far better than hanging in a plastic cover in a wardrobe.

Wow! This is beautiful, and such a wonderful way for the bride to keep her dress for a treasured family heirloom. My wedding dress went the opposite route (29 years ago). It started as sheets, then a large curtain, then was to be a sample of my wedding dress, but I liked it so much I just used it the way it was. :>}

Hi Annie, I am just catching up on reading my favourite blogs that's why it has taken a while to comment. This is amazing what you have done to the dress - the owner is definitely going to be happy with this one!
