This is where I have been spending most of my time this week.
My little Pete has done a MAGNIFICENT job of the vegi patch. We moved the chooks to the other side and cleaned up, and he has done LOTS of planting planting planting. I love spending time with him in the garden.
My BIG TALL boy, asked me if I was a "dreamer or a do'er". He said to me that if I wanted a bird avairy in the back yard, I needed to begin to make a space in the garden and make it happen. With his help and encouragement, we began . . .
With a few garden extensions and a little path, we moved, we dug and we dreamed and we DID!
. . . and can you believe it, we happened upon this old "cocky cage" that needs just a little bit of loving, but we think it's great. My budgies are going to be SOOOOooooo happy in my garden. It has moved to "the factory" temporarily to have some maintenance, and will return to the designated spot. I will keep you posted on this one.
Out in the front garden, I stumbled upon this beautiful poppy - wow! The buds are still coming.
These are the tulips at my front door, and all who come to visit, I say, "did you see my beautiful tulips?" I thought I'd share them with the world.
Spring is here!

I love the juxtoposition of the tulips with the euphorbia...love the color that gives. I think I will buy more blocks of color with tulips next year. I have a few but they are also scattered here and there which is annoying me. If I were young and fit I would make color labels and put them next to them now as they flower..maybe photos will help identify spots. Have a nice bank of white in 3 pots. I have just tried to calculate how long it is since the beginning of "91 when I had to take ill health retirement from teaching.....when I used to spend all my before school and holidays in the garden. That was pre drought of course. Keep up the good work. Next door have two or three avairies which I am growing a big tree to block out the visuals of the ugly tops of them, but love the birds...galahs etc...and native ones come and visit them. Good luck with it.
Can you grow something like clematis on them without hurting the birds...next doors have corrugated iron roofs. I imagine it gets hot in the summer.
Wonder if colored needles would do the trick as markers....lol.
Ive just discovered a euphorbia at the side of my house that i didnt know was there! pretty happy. Nice close-up photos!
Oh, Hooray!! I love spring. Your flowers are gorgeous, and I like your aviary idea. How wonderful to have such an able helper/expediter!

It is very pretty and neat...my bok-boks were nut impressed with my outdoor renos...they scatched all the bark chips back over the rocks...crazy girls....It will be nice having your buggies churpping in your garden.

Lovely Annie, I love spending time with the children in my garden too. They know that the garden is a nice place to be in and " no crabbiness allowed" - from either of us. Kids can learn the rules. lol. Glad you spend some lovely time together.
Thanks for sharing your gardens. I love them and I really want to have one. We just moved into a little house with a large yard maybe now I can have a garden.
