Quilts, Quilts and more

I've waited 10 years for this flower.
It's my Pink Crinums - they've been here there and everywhere, but finally, a flower.  I'm very happy with it.

I've been busy this week getting my quilts ready for our Quilt Festival for the Long Weekend.  Sleeves and labelling - all by hand, take time. I still have a big one to go.  Just chipping away, in between very busy times at work.

I've hunted out a pile of my bags from the cupboard.  I'm wondering if they might make an interesting display in one of the booths at the quilt show.  I could even put them up for sale.  What do you think?  Would you like to see a BAG JOURNEY at a Quilt Show?

Quilt Festival

 Been busy quilting.
Come the long weekend in March, our quilting group,
are having a quilt festival in Ballarat.
I did this quilt workshop during the holidays, and thought it would be good to get finished for the Show.
It will be held in The Mining Exchange in Ballarat from March 7th-10th
If you'd like to see this quilt there . . . come along
Tell your friends . . . I'm in charge of the "Recycle your Stash" Stall.
I'd better go "a-hunting" in my cupboards and not waste a good opportunity for a tidy up.

Last baby of the season

We've had a couple of days under 35 degrees, and it has been such a relief.
It's allowed me to see some flowers again in my garden - not scorching!
They ARE the tough ones, but beautiful all the same.
This rose is Remember Me.

 This is Jayne Austin -
planted for my sister Jayne
. . . and the every hardy Aggies
This is my last little baby for the season.  There were 2, but it was too hot.
There were more eggs, but they came to nothing -
only the strong survive.
I had to keep an eye on Max yesterday as the baby insisted on perching right on the edge of the cage.  Luckily this hay bale kept him busy for awhile.  He loves rubbing all over it.

 Stay safe little baby . . .

Swimming

It's been really HOT here in Ballarat, and that's been good news for our Swimming Programme that happens each year in the first 2 weeks.
Our timetables are all over the shop, but every afternoon, the children enjoy the cool pool, which is just across our oval.
They are having a wonderful time, but I'll be glad when it's all over and we can get into our routines.

Back to Quilting

I've had to put my dress pattern away for a bit, and get back to quilting.  There is an Exhibition coming up in Ballarat, during the Long Weekend in March
I'm not sure where my mind has been - only I do know it was tied up in School for the last 2 weeks!!
Time now to get serious about quilts - the pressure's on.
. . . but I did find a nice wind spinner for my garden yesterday and put that up this morning.

Wish I could show you their smiley faces

 School's In!
My garden will have to wait for weekends.
I was awe struck when I got the first sample of writing yesterday,
realising the BIG job ahead of me,
BUT
It's worth it when you see their smiley faces.
Beautiful kids!

Very Hot Today

It was forecast to be another very hot day today.
I decided to get up early and do a small patch of weeding before I had a shower.  The first week of school has been endured and I've interviewed nearly all of the children one on one, finding out where they are up to in Maths so we are ready to start Point of Need Teaching right from the start of the year.
All children will be there together on Monday.
I missed my garden being back at school, so had to take a posy of roses for my desk, so I had a little bit of garden with me during the day.
 These Tiger Lillies are spectacular.
My canaries don't like the heat, but there are still more babies coming and growing in nests.  It has been a good year for them.  I love hearing them chattering while I'm out in the garden.
This is an interesting Salvia I have in my garden.  I don't know the name, but I cut back other plants around it a while back, and it has flourished.

I may . . . have just made another Eva dress . . .  did I say I was a little obsessed?
Beautiful Hydrangea's in the early morning, but they do hate the heat.
Keep cool everyone.
