Cold Rainy Days

I had a play with the new Crazymom quilts, quilt-a-long block, but used a "sweet roll' so it was all teeny tiny, but very cute.
Sewing up some wraps for our teacher friend who is about to have her first baby, and the left over bits being made into "chuck" rags. Couldn't help myself after sewing with white white white - just had to add some colour onto one of them . . .
Hope she doesn't mind.
And my lovely new print from Aunty Cookie - I love it!

My Furry Friends

-My favourite place to be-
Since that wonderful dress, I've not been able to throw out the selvedges. My bag of them was piling up, so I thought I would make something with them, and here it is.
This is MAX enjoying my quilts

The time has come

I was out in the garden just now, grabbing the last snippet of "the holidays". I put new straw in for the chooks, and weeded the little garden outside their quarters. Just as the darkness was coming in, as I was pruning a little overgrown plant, I came upon my (tiny) thyme plant. I smiled to myself, and declared out loud, "I've found some more time!"
I know everyone laments that they "don't have enough time" and "I wish I had more time" and "how do you get so much time" - but I am fully aware that we are all granted the same amount of time, and it's all about choices and what we choose to do with ours.
I have chosen this holidays, to spend a lot of time sewing, and as a result, I have yet another finish!. I am fairly pleased with my time this holidays, and I am just a little bit sad that I have to farwell the lazy days with no bell. . . but the good news is, in about 10 weeks, I will have another holiday, and I will be able to do it all over again.
My Nellie will miss me - although she will probably just go back to extended cat naps during the day. More to the point, I will miss her.

Tessellation's and Congratulations

A Baby Wrap (can I call it a quilt?) made with flannelette and beautiful birdies for our special PE teacher who is expecting any minute. So snugly and warm - brings back memories.
. . . and a bit of fun with Master 14 and 3 quarters. Some maths and patterns, "just like those fun blocks at Primary School"
Trying out the Carpenters Wheel pattern, but proved a little more difficult than I first thought.
Glad I had help.
We had fun together and were pleased with the result, despite having to jiggle the seams a bit to make it fit. I think this test pattern will be destined for the mini quilt wall.

Here comes another one - just like the other one

All flannels - so soft and warm.
Hand quilted in pearl cotton - been working on it quietly for a few months, but another finish for the holidays. This one will be my new "TV Blankie"
. . . and a couple of Nikki purses for gifts.

Around the Block Excitement!

For some time now, I've been receiving little parcels in the mail with fabric and created a block or two and sent the little parcels far and wide. I've been in the Around the Block Quilting Group and it's been great. The best part so far, however has been June. It is my month in June, and although it was a bit of work, sending out all the fabric and deciding on a theme for my quilt, it's been a flurry of excitement each day going out to my mail box and finding one of those little parcels addressed to me.
I chose a circle theme and am just loving seeing what people have come up with. I chose colours from my stash all around the colour wheel and sent out 15 parcels each with an individual colour (some doubled up). I chose all my very favourite pieces and am looking forward to actually putting it together, as I have no idea at this stage what it is going to look like. It's going to be a circle surprise.
Thank you girls - keep that post coming!
