Happy New Year 2015

It's a VERY hot day here in Ballarat Australia.  My poor garden is being blown about with hot hot winds.  I've been waiting patiently for my Christmas Lillies to bloom, and when I went outside before, one had opened and the pot had blown over. I brought it inside to the Laundry.  I've waited too long to see it damaged by weather.  This picture is a special Snowflake Agapanthus that is just opening too, but it's safely in the ground.
My birds were hot too.  I gave them some fresh bath water and sprayed the cages to cool them down.  This little lady was perching over her 5 eggs . . . she must have worried about them cooking underneath her.
This is one of the new babies this season.  Some nice soft colourings and a quiet nature . . . must be a girl!
This white one was a baby last year, and has already had 2 sets of babies this season.  Unfortunately no white ones like her yet.
A new baby this season with a distinctive black eyebrow on one side only.
California Poppies valiantly flowering in the heat
. . . and my beautiful blue Cornflowers - a lovely display this summer outside my back door.

I'm looking forward to this year being a "good one!"

I'd send you some of our cold, wet weather if I could, Annie! Oh well, everything in its season. Your flowers are gorgeous, and look at those birds! You are quite the talented breeder.

Hi Annie, oh those hot winds are awful. However, you're right on to the plants that need help by the sound of your post.
Beautiful pics of your sweet birds - that poor Mum having to straddle her eggs. Hope it's a bit cooler for you today.
Cheers and may the New Year bring lots of happiness for you and yours :D)

I was thinking of you when my Christmas Lilly flowered in late November. I wondered about the sister bulbs and how they would go. Very cute birds. Corn Flowers are one of my favourites. True blue is hard to come by in the garden.

Are you harvesting those Poppy seeds Annie? I have collected all mine and pulled the plants out now, going to send them to friends as gifts and share the love. :)

Your pictures are so beautiful Annie -- especially the closeups of the birds! Are these bird nests just open and free in your backyard? Or are they in cages? What happens to all the babies? They're so pretty!

It is amazing how hot it has been the past few years and how much damage the heat can do to flora. We have been having the hottest weather ever in Florida and everything seems to be wilting away. Even with daily watering, all the plants look like they could use a drink! Good luck with your plants!
