I've got MAIL
I've always wanted to put a post on with a post bag, and finally....I've got MAIL! A BEAUTIFUL scarf that my friend Brenda knitted for my birthday. She emailed and said it was in transit early in the week, and each night I came home from school looking in the box, and asking family ... "any mail for me?"
By Friday, I had almost given up hope and was about to accept that a postie had found a lovely new scarf, when there was a knock at the front door. The young lass said she was the daughter of our neighbour who is holidaying in Queensland. She came by to check the house, and looked in her mailbox and found my parcel. It had probably been sitting there all week!! I was very happy to recieve it and knew instantly what it was. Aren't people great...except for posties who get the numbers of houses mixed up!
The same georgous friend has a Mother who is just as generous and has brought me a great deal of pleasure. Earlier in the year when I was unwell, she gave me 6 beautiful pots of orchids and I have been tenderly looking after them and look what happens ...
I just think they are SO special.

It was just SNOW exciting
It was snow exciting yesterday. It snowed twice in one day. It usually only snows once a year here, and never really very heavily. I was out snapping some shots to capture the excitement and we had to ring both Granny and Nanna. The school kids loved it, and it was great to share it with them. I was a little concerned about the poor chookies, and wanted to wrap them in a blanket.
It was just SNOW exciting!

Felted Handbag Tick
A new winter handbag! Very pleased with myself. I even spent the afternoon with the chooks and gave them a new bed of straw. I saw a little field mouse nesting in the chook house too. I didn't have the heart to disturb the nest. They were indeed happy chooks though and I had a dig too. Sewing AND Gardening, what a lovely birthday. Now I'm going for a sleep over at my friends house!!
Every day it opens a little more - very exciting!
Can you believe I started unpicking and have started again!!!! I must be mad! Stay tuned on this one.

Happy Chooks
Only a few days of holidays to go, and I find myself not knowing which passion to turn to - gardening or sewing!!! The rain has come, and that has made it a little easier, but I still want to get out there and dig. I have still been collecting the leaves from the gutters, much to the horror of my children. What beautiful compost I have down in the bottom of the garden. The chooks are happy if not a little cold. I have a bale of straw in my car that I will share with them tomorrow so they can go "scritchety scratch"
Ohhhh... and P.S. I too am ticking the projets off my To Do list! It's amazing the power of print! Stay tuned for some photos of some finished products.

Prints Charming
What a great weekend I've had. My dear friend Brenda and her daughter came for the weekend, and we spent it mainly in the sewing room altogether, industriously working on projects, and all the while, exercising our jaw muscles and catching up on all our news. The 2 young girls got into the act, practising thier "suffolk puffs" and all went away with something to show for their time in .... Annie's Sewing Room!
There was a little trip to the Patchwork Shop where we picked up some patterns, put some more entries into the cusion competition and of course bought just a little more fabric!!! Oh and for the second Saturday in a row, I bumped into Ric Rac amongst the fat quarters. (what a surprise!)

Project Attack
I am pleased to report that I have completed one of my unfinished projects!!! My friendship quilt that I due in next week is all tucked up in it's box ready to pass on. I have worked on it all day and the feeling of completion is ... elation!
In case you were wondering "what the..." it is all folded up backwards to conceal the finished product. They will not be revealed to the owner for another 6 months yet. It is a very exciting project with lots of anticipation.
Sarah's knitting is growing ...
And my crotcheting too ... It is a good cure for nail biting in front of the TV
Too wet to play in the garden today, but look what I found on a little tour out there yesterday. More excitement in my life!
