This is Mum . . . my beautiful mumSorry I haven't been playing the last couple of weeks, but I couldn't resist this one.
This is....my way of Recycling
I get children from school to bring me in bags and bags of leaves. I stop on the way home from school with my rake, and my garden gloves and I clean up the gutters. I no longer get embarrassed as this is my 3rd year of doing this. As my children are getting older however, they hide in the car. They will certainly remember their mum as the resident "leaf thief"
I feed my compost bins and reap the bennefits with luscious compost for my garden. Gee it's a wonderful life. I just LOVE gardening.
Just a little teaser for Miss Locket to finish up on, for as much as I love gardening,
I love sewing too!
Don't mention school reports . . . that's what I'm supposed to be doing!!

Hi Annie,
It makes me happy to learn about other people who delight in plants and gardening as much as I do! I hope you don't mind if I steal your term 'Leaf Thief' as well - it's perfect!

Happy composting :-)

That's funny! I can just imagine the kids hiding....

You even make dead leaves look attractive.........your poor kids, just tell them at least you aren't dumpster diving, that is another thing that makes them cringe apparently.

My mum used to be a leaf thief too(love that expression) and now you've reminded me-what a great idea-no wonder your garden is so lush. Your sneak peak quilt looks fantastic. Good luck with your reports!

Annie you must have a large garden to use all those leaves. Just imagine the kids when they are grown up and talking about the 'Leaf Thief' - they will love it

Will have to watch out for a leaf theif next time I am down your way in Autumn. I could see my MIL doing that back in her day.

I love your images of the different leaves.

Good on you for making your own compost! My daughter bought home a worm farm that she "made" at school this term.

Love the music fabric that you are using in your quilt! Good luck with the reports.

If only reports could write themselves :/ Your garden looks splendid, I can understand how you might walk about in the rain admiring it's wonderful scenes. I love the photos you shared and story of the 'thief leaf'...that sounds like a great children's book!

Hellooooo over therrrrre!
Feel as though you are verrry far away; and yet the quiltie deadline is so, so near at hand : ) I'd resisted temptation to blog about your mini, but you may have just pushed me far enough... I've also identified my little "extras" to include. Though, I must admit that it is killing me to not send any sweets (guessing from LLP's instruction that the Aussie Customs aren't keen on that) - have to think up something as good - or better! Anything in particular you'd like for the USA?

ps: BEAUTIFUL pics! I'm hoping that you print them on note cards for yourself (or to gift, or to sell). Really. They are that good!

Leaf thief! Haha. I wish I had a compost, it's sort of hard when you live in a small flat with no garden :P We have managed to make our own garden though -all plants in pots waiting to be potted out when we get our own house!

Hi Annie

I love the idea of you as the leaf thief! That sneaky peek is AMAZING! I'm sorry I haven't commented before now but I've been having problems with a very temperamental broadband server/connection for the last couple of days - grrrr!

I'm sitting here sewing a bunny order and wishing I could be up at the allotment instead!

I am so with you about the leaf thieving! When I drop the kids off at school, we go down the aptly named Autumn Street whose gutters are piled high with leaves. The residents thoughtfully rake all the leaves from their front lawns into neat piles in the gutter. Surely I would be doing the community a service by picking them up rather than have them choke up the stormwater drains?
